Jared Donaldson
Jared Donaldson is a professional tennis player who was born in Providence, Rhode Island, United States on October 9, 1996. Donaldson stands at 6 feet and 2 inches, and plays right-handed with a two-handed backhand. He is coached by Jan-Michael Gambill.
Donaldson is known for his strength in his return game, unlike his American contemporaries who rely on forehands and big serves. In 2017, his serve was rated quite low, but was the best-rated returner among all the Americans. Many have surmised that this difference in style could be in part of his upbringing in Argentina.
In his early years as a pro, Donaldson reached the final round of qualifying for the 2013 US Open. During the attempt to breakthrough, he was able to defeat two players who were within the Top 250.
Three years later, Donaldson finally broke through the Top 100 in 2016. He first qualified at the US Open, and recorded his biggest victory of his career after he defeated David Goffin in the first round. He then went on to defeat Viktor Troicki before he was defeated by Ivo Karlovic.
Since he started playing in the ATP World Tour, Donaldson has a record of 41 victories and 54 losses. He has not won a career title yet, and does not have a Grand Slam title as well. He is currently ranked at No. 51 as of April 2018 however, he was at No. 48 earlier in the year. This was the highest rank he attained so far.
Despite not having any Grand Slam titles, Donaldson has participated in all four Grand Slam events. The latest being the 2018 Australian Open.
