Career
As a junior player, she reached a high ranking of No.1. Early in his career, she played in the ITF Junior circuit. She later went on to play in the ITF Women’s Circuit.
She did not make her Grand Slam main draw debut until 2017 when she appeared in three of the four Majors. In 2019, she made it to the finals of Roland Garros. She lost out to Australian tennis star Ashleigh Barty.
As a doubles player, she made it to the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2017. In 2019, she was in the semifinals of the Australian Open. In 2021, she won the silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. She was beaten by Swedish tennis player Belinda Bencic.
In 2023, she became the first ever unseeded women’s player to lift the Wimbledon title, knocking out Jessica Pegula in the quarter-finals, Elina Svitolina in the semi-finals, and sixth seed Ons Jabeur 6-4 6-4 in the final. Ranked 42 prior to Wimbledon, she became the lowest-ranked Wimbledon champion since WTA rankings were introduced.
Also in 2023, she made it to the quarterfinals of the US Open and the Cincinnati Open.
