Marius Copil
Marius Copil is a professional tennis player who was born in Arad, Romania on October 17, 1990. Copil is known for playing in the ATP Challenger Tour, ATP World Tour, and is also a member of the Davis Cup team representing Romania.
Copil turned pro in 2008, and since 2009, he has received wildcard access to participate in the 2009 BCR Open Romania. During the tournament, he was able to defeat Victor Crivoi during the first round, but was eliminated by Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo from Spain.
The following year, Copil was able to reach his first ATP Challenger Tour final as a qualifier, and faced off against Trofeo Paolo Corazzi. By 2011, Copil had a good start to his year as he was able reach his second final at the Tretorn Serie+ event that was held in Kazan Russia. During the final round, he went against Andreas Beck in straight sets.
2015 was another hallmark year for Copil as he recorded the fastest serve at a Grand Slam when he played at the Australian Open during the said year. The recorded speed was at 242.0 km/h.
Throughout his career so far, Copil has a record of 44 victories and 54 losses in singles. He has no career titles yet, and is currently ranked at No. 82 as of April 2018. The highest rank he reached was at No. 73, which he attained on February 2018. He also does not have any Grand Slam titles, although he has participated in all four events at some point in his career.
