Eddie Dibbs is a former tennis player who was a French Open semifinalist in 1975 and 1976 and a quarter finalist in 1978, the same year when he finished on the 1987 Grand Prix. Born on February 23, 1951 in Brooklyn, his family moved to Miami when he was a youngster. There Dibbs played tennis in the public courts, hustling games from unsuspecting opponents.

Dibbs was a runner up at the 1982 tournament of Champions. Known for his gritty baseline style, Dibbs was a runner-up at the WTC Dallas Finals in 1978 and a quarter finalist at the US Open in Flushing Meadow. He won the title in 1978 in North Conway, New Hampshire, and followed this up with another title in Toronto, Canada. He then won the WTC Invitational in Forest Hills, New York a year later by defeating Harold Solomon. In 1980, Dibbs won again in Sarasota, Florida, defeating Andres Gomez on clay. He followed this up with another win in Boston, Massachusetts by defeating Gene Mayer. A year later, he won the WTC Tournament of Champions in Forrest Hills, New York, U.S. Dibbs won his last title in 1981 in Quito, Ecuador after defeating David Carter.
All in all, Dibbs won a total of 22 singles titles.

His favoured surface was clay, although he also was successful in cement. In his years as a pro, Dibbs was known as a funny man and always knew how to entertain. He lives in North Miami Beach, Florida with his wife.
