Rik De Voest
Born on June 5, 1980, Rik De Voest is a tennis player from South Africa. De Voest started playing tennis at the age of six. A member of the South African Davis Cup team, he turned pro in 1999.
De Voest played his best game in 2007 when he finished in the top 150 for the second straight season. It was in 2007 when he earned his first ATP doubles title in Beijing by defeating the Haggard-Lu tandem with Fisher. He also competed in the Challenger Circuit in his first event of the year, and was a runner-up at Durban in February, losing to Montcourt. The tall and lanky South African was also a runner-up in Tallahassee, losing to Tsonga in April. He qualified for the 2007 Wimbledon where he lost to Marat Safin in the first round. He then qualified for the US Open, where he defeated Thierry Ascione before the latter retired.
De Voest also made it to the semis at Yuba City and Vancouver and two more QF exits. He was more successful in doubles, earning four titles in Lanzarote, Vancouver, Seoul and Durban. He also reached the finals in Busan with partner Duclos, as well as in Lubbock, where he teamed up with Reynolds. He attained a ranking of no. 81 in doubles at the end of the season.
De Voest achieved a career-high ranking of world number 110 in 2006.
