Elbert Anasta
Elbert Anasta is a Filipino tennis player who plays with the Philippine Davis Cup team and is a native of Himamaylan, Negros Oriental. His most recent match was in April 2011 when he was defeated by veteran player and former Davis Cup player Joseph Victorino at the Cebuana Lhuillier Men's Open at the Baseline tennis courts. Anasta came to the match seeded at number 2 and faced off with Jacob Lagman and Jurence Mendoza in the doubles quarterfinals.
Anasta reached the finals of the 2010 Bacolod Open where he faced off with fellow Davis Cupper Johnny Arcilla. On the way to the finals Anasta whipped Patrick John Tierro who came in as a second seed, while Arcilla defeated Ralph Kevin Barte. The two would meet again, this time at the men's singles in the 29th Philippine Columbian Association Open in Manila. Arcilla defeated Anasta in less than an hour with a 6-1, 6-1 score. Arcilla went on to face Fil-Am Andrew Cooney in the second round.
Anasta was recently included in the roster of players to comprise the Philippine Davis Cup team set to face Japan in the Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Zone group first round. Prior to this he was part of the delegation that defeated the South Korean team in Changwon City, a victory that allowed the Philippine team to stay in Group I in 2011.
