Jeson Patrombon is a Filipino tennis player from Iligan, Philippines. Born on March 27, 1993, Patrombon started playing tennis at the age of 7 and often served as a ball boy in his hometown’s local tennis clubs before he was spotted by coach Manny Tecson, who saw his potential. Soon after being spotted, then-17-year old was sent to Manila to train at the tennis academy of the Philippines. By September of 2010, he was chosen to represent the country at the first Youth Olympics.
Potrombon’s most recent win was in January 2011, when he entered the top 15 list of the International Tennis Federation World rankings, moving to number 12 from number 30. This boosted his chances of earning wild card entries in Futures tournaments, the first of which is slated to be held in February. This ranking was helped in part by his quarterfinal finish in doubles at the Yucatan World Cup in Mexico. This current ranking also makes Patrombon the highest ranked junior player in Asia, two ranks higher than past holder Francis Casey Alcantara who placed 14th on world rankings in 2009 after winning the Australian Open doubles.

Potrombon won his first-ever international singles title by defeating Serbian opponent Nikola Milojevic with a final score of 6-3, 6-1 in the China Junior 2 in Xiamen in September 2010. He came in as the top seed in the event, which is just two rungs below a Grand Slam event. This win gave the Filipino netter additional 100 points which was expected to give him a boost in the rankings.
