Ferrer: I Knew It Was My Turn To Win

Spaniard David Ferrer has claimed his second title in a week ending Polish qualifier Jerry Janowicz’s dream run to the final of the Paris Masters.

Spaniard David Ferrer has claimed his second title in a week ending Polish qualifier Jerry Janowicz’s dream run to the final of the Paris Masters.

The world number five defeated Janowicz, 6-4, 6-3, ending his own run of defeats in Masters’ finals.

“I was very nervous because it was my chance to win a first Masters title, but somehow I knew it was my turn,” Ferrer said.

“To me this is a dream to win here. If I won it’s because I have a great team.”

Ferrer, who won last week’s Valencia Open, had his run to the final helped by the early round exits of Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray but admitted playing Janowicz in the final was no easy feat.

“I feel the pressure more than him, because I played three times in a Masters final,” Ferrer said.

“He’s a young player. It was the first final for him, without pressure.”
