Everyone was worried about what would become of Fernando Gonzalez’ career after he withdrew from the Rome Masters due to leg injury early in May. This withdrawal ceased his winning streak in the Rome Masters and even prevented him from joining the Masters Series in Hamburg the following week.
After winning his 10th ATP title in the BMW Championships held in Munich, Gonzalez injured his right leg. Not wanting to compromise his physical state of health any further, he chose to withdraw from the Rome Masters and Masters Series in Hamburg.
However, making a good and healthy comeback, Fernando Gonzalez was able to return to Tennis, entering the Roland Garros French Open 2008. Despite the recent recovery from an injured right leg, Fernando Gonzalez was able to emerge victorious against a match with Pablo Cuevas winning three straight sets (6-3, 6-3 and 6-1).
Other interesting court match-ups in this year’s French Open includes Fernando Verdasco (W) vs. Santiago Ventura (L), Juan Carlos Ferrero vs. Marcos Daniel and a whole lot more.
Now, with the French Open still ongoing, everyone is on the lookout to see how Fernando Gonzalez will fare in this year’s Grand Slam event. Everyone’s favorite top players including Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have a sure win in this year’s Open but everyone is still rooting on unexpected players to rise up to the event namely Fernando Verdasco, Jose Acasuso and Radek Stepanek to name a few.
