Virginie Razzano defeated Marion Bartoli, who suffered a leg injury, with a score of 6-4, 1-0. Razzano will move on to the AEGON International final on Friday, and face the sixth-seeded Caroline Wozniacki.
Bartoli repelled from shaking hands with Razzano after retiring the game. Razzano mentioned in a French newspaper that Bartoli’s strategy is to create fuzz over minor injuries in order to gain mental advantage.
“What she said about me in the newspaper was not really brilliant, but I get that’s the way she is,” said Bartoli. “I could never say that about another player.”
But Razzano show no regrets with her remarks.
“She can stop any time in any match,” said Razzano. “If you stop to look at her because she has pain everywhere, she tries to make your concentration go down and you can’t play because you are thinking what has happened.
“It’s a disappointment for her but not for me because I am in the final. It’s a good win for me because I have more energy for tomorrow.”
At the start of the second set, Bartoli had a wrapped right thigh.
“When it was 1-0, 40-0 I felt a sharp pain, and after that I couldn’t push on my right leg to serve and it was getting worse and worse,” said Bartoli.
