British tennis player Emma Raducanu made it through to her first grass court final, without dropping a set, and will face world No. 76 Donna Vekic in the HSBC Championships title match on Sunday.
Former US Open champion Emma Raducanu took down sixth seed Iva Jovic 6-2, 6-2 in one hour and 31 minutes, progressing to her first final on home soil, on Saturday at Queen's Club in London.
In her on-court interview, she commented, "This week has been incredible. I've really enjoyed playing here, and I think that really shows in my tennis and how I've been able to compete and stick out some tough moments. And yeah, it means everything making it to Sunday."
In blistering form all week, the world No. 42 built a consistent path to her third career title match, delivering a high-level performance behind her service as well as on the return on a surface that suits her perfectly.
Hitting the ball cleanly off both wings, she made a difference on the forehand side to impose her game, charging at the net with authority when required, rounding up one of her best tennis showings on the WTA Tour.
Throughout four matches at the WTA 500 tournament, the 23-year-old has yet to drop a set on Andy Murray Arena, having defeated two top 20 opponents in the process.
On Sunday, she will meet Croatian player Donna Vekic for the first time; the 29-year-old secured a statement 6-1, 6-3 victory over the British No. 3, Katie Boulter, in just 66 minutes.
Vekic is an experienced player who enjoys playing on the grass, a surface on which she claimed a title in Nottingham back in 2017.
In 2024, she made it to the Wimbledon semifinals, falling to Italian Jasmine Paoline in three sets.
The box-office clash with Raducanu will mark her first final at the tour level in two years.
A month ago, Raducanu reunited with Andrew Richardson for the remainder of the season, the coach who helped her lift the US Open title in 2021 after an impressive run from qualifying to the final, becoming a Grand Slam champion at 18.
