TNT Sports, a division of Warner Bros. Discovery, announced through a press release that Andre Agassi, who won eight Grand Slam singles titles during his professional career, will join the broadcasting team in its inaugural Roland-Garros coverage during the semifinals and finals in May.
“Watching TNT through the years, I’ve admired how they create an environment that encourages everyone to express their voice in an authentic, unfiltered way,” outlined Agassi.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge of partnering with TNT Sports via this very special Roland-Garros event as we reimagine how tennis broadcasts can be.”
Last June, TNT Sports agreed on a 10-year deal with the French Tennis Federation to add Roland-Garros to its portfolio in the United States, becoming the largest global broadcast partner to the prestigious major in the country, starting this year.
Craig Barry, Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer of TNT Sports, commented: “Andre is one of the most accomplished tennis players of all time, and we’re excited to add his distinct voice to our inaugural Roland-Garros coverage. His very unique lens will elevate our presentation and appeal to both passionate fans and casual audiences.”
Over two decades, the most recent American player to lift La Coupe des Mousquetaires on Parisian soil (1999) captured 60 ATP titles, an Olympic Gold Medal (1996), claiming the Davis Cup on three occasions with the United States and reached a career-high world number one in the Rankings.
A busy year awaits Agassi, one of the best players of his generation and a legend of the sport.
The 54-year-old from Nevada has been named Team World Captain at the Laver Cup, taking over from countryman John McEnroe.
His term will begin next September when the eighth edition of the Laver Cup sets off action at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California.
Meanwhile, Pat Rafter will take on the role of Vice Captain alongside his former on-court rival.
American players Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, and Tommy Paul have confirmed their return to the competition, representing Team World.
