ATP Finals Draw Revealed: Sinner and Medvedev on Collision Course

The 2024 Nitto ATP Finals draw was revealed on Thursday, shaping the season-ending event singles group stage with top seed Jannik Sinner and world No. 2 Alexander Zverev leading their respective groups.

The Nitto ATP Finals will get underway on Sunday in Turin, featuring the world’s best eight qualified singles players and doubles teams, divided into two groups of four in a round-robin format.

Top seed Jannik Sinner headlines the Ilie Nastase Group singles field, which also features 2020 champion Daniil Medvedev, US Open runner-up Taylor Fritz, and seventh seed Alex de Minaur, who qualified for the year-end championships for the first time.

Meanwhile, two-time champion Alexander Zverev leads the John Newcombe Group, alongside third seed Carlos Alcaraz, making his second consecutive appearance at the prestigious season-ending event.

The 2022 finalist Casper Ruud and eighth seed Andrey Rublev will join them at the Inalpi Arena, host to the Finals from November 10-17 in Turin, Italy.

Fourth-seed Medvedev will open singles proceedings on Sunday day session against American Fritz.

The world No. 4 leads Fritz 1-0 in the series, having faced one another in 2022 at the Cincinnati Masters outdoor hardcourts.

The evening session will feature the world No. 1 Sinner against Australian De Minaur, facing one another for the first time since their championship match in Rotterdam last February, a clash the Italian eventually won in straight sets to lift the title.

As of today, they have met seven times at tour level; the San Candido holds a perfect record, prevailing over the 25-year-old each time they played.

Singles action will kick off on Monday as Alcaraz hits the court to take on Ruud.

The night session will see Zverev starting his quest for a third Finals trophy against Rublev.

The Rules

Over a week of world-class competition, the players contest three singles matches, each the best of three tiebreak sets.

According to the format established, two players will surge from each group en route to the knockout semifinals and title match.

Doubles Draw

On Thursday, the doubles draw revealed the top seeds Marcelo Arevalo/Mate Pavic leading the Bob Bryan Group, which includes fourth seeds Simone Bolelli/Andrea Vavassori, Rohan Bopanna/Matthew Ebden, and Kevin Krawietz/Tim Puetz duo.

The Mike Bryan Group reunites second seeds Marcel Granollers/Horacio Zeballos, Wesley Koolhof/Nikola Mektic, fifth seed Max Purcell/Jordan Thompson,and Harri Heliovaara/Henry Patten pairing.

According to the organizers, all doubles matches are two sets (no ad) and a match tiebreak.
