The 2025 ATP Tour calendar will comprise 60 tournaments across 29 countries featuring structural changes for the upcoming season.
Among the changes set for 2025, the ATP highlights the creation of additional weeks introducing side-by-side ATP 500 events.
According to the sports federation, the initiative intends to “put an increased spotlight on the category and create a more consolidated narrative for fans”.
Andrea Gaudenzi, ATP Chairman, elaborated: “Next season will see yet more enhancements to the ATP Tour’s premium product across a streamlined calendar.”
“This is central to everything we’ve been building under OneVision, which ultimately aims to create the best possible experience for our fans,” Gaudenzi added.
Under the Italian leadership, currently on a second term as ATP Chairman, unprecedented reforms have been implemented as part of the OneVision strategic plan, designed to build new foundations for the sport.
“Last season, we broke new ground, welcoming a record five million fans on-site across our events.”
“This is just one indication of how positively the sport is trending, and we believe there’s incredible potential still to be unlocked,” he remarked.
Since 2023, we have seen the introduction of expanded 12-day ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, which from 2025 will extend to the National Bank Open Presented by Rogers, held in Toronto, Canada, and the Cincinnati Open, held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
Early in March, the combined men’s and women’s Masters 1000 venue sited in Cincinnati announced a $260 million investment to upgrade its facilities over two years, including additional practice courts as brand new seats at Center Court and Grandstand areas, following the tournament owner Beemok Capital’s decision to keep the event at its current home for the next 25 years.
Previously, the Mutua Madrid Open, Internazinali BNL d’Italia held in the Foro Italico in Rome, and the Rolex Shanghai Masters began to feature as 12-day Masters 1000.
Furthermore, the 2025 calendar will go from 13 ATP 500 events to 16; in that regard, the upgraded tournaments are the Dallas Open, Qatar Exxon Mobil Open, held in Doha, and the BMW Open, staged in Munich, Germany.
Meanwhile, the new schedule will see the ATP 500 Hamburg Open moving from July to May, celebrated the week before the French Open.
Changes to ATP 250 venues will lead to the relocation of the Cordoba Open to Mallorca, Spain, ahead of Wimbledon.
The Los Cabos Open will shift dates, featured in July instead of February.
In addition, Estoril, Newport, Atlanta, and Lyon will no longer feature in the upcoming season.
However, in the case of the Estoril Open, the ATP acknowledges the successful collaboration with the event, which has run under an ATP license since 2015, highlighting the federation continues to “explore all possibilities to try to find a solution for the highly regarded event.”
The Tiriac Open staged in Bucharest will take Estoril’s spot in the calendar.
Eventually, the season will conclude with the fifth edition of the prestigious Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, the third edition of the Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah, and the Davis Cup Finals.
