Favorite to win Carlos Alcaraz is through to the fourth round of the French Open after he beat Canadian Denis Shapovalov in three straight sets 6-1, 6-4, 6-2.

The only slight blip in the straight-sets win was when Alcaraz trailed Shapovalov 4-1 at the start of the second set.

He did manage to follow that up with seven straight games, setting up a fourth-round meet-up with Lorenzo Musetti.

The last time Musetti and Alcaraz met, Musetti took him down and the Spaniard acknowledges that it will not be the easiest of matches.

“It’s a big challenge for me,” Alcaraz said of the matchup.

He also reminisced about his time at Roland Garros last year when he made it to the quarterfinals.

“I remember Roland Garros last year I was more in trouble. I saved [a] match point against Ramos [Albert Ramos-Vinolas]. I remember that match really clearly,” he said, recalling his recent second-round match.

“But after that match, I think it was great… It’s totally different for me the first week into the second one.”

Many are anticipating that Alcaraz will go up against Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. Since they are on the same side of the draw, it will be where they potentially meet.
