xCarlos Alcaraz said that he felt invincible at times during his first-round match against Italian qualifier Flavio Cobolli in the opening round of the French Open.

It only took him three sets to take down the Italian 6-0, 6-2, 7-5, winning the first eight games of Mondays match and was two sets up in less than an hour. He clearly overwhelmed his opponent allowing him only 10 points.

“I felt I couldn’t lose a game. I thought that I was able to win easier than I did, but a match can turn around in each game. But at the start of the match, I felt invincible,” he said.

This was the Grand Slam debut for Coboli who rallied briefly in the third set but still lost out.

In the next round, Alcaraz will go up against Taro Daniel.

“I know the level of Taro, so it’s going to be a really tough second round, really tough match,” added Alcaraz.

“So I have to be ready for that, and I have to be prepared for a really tough one.”

The World Number 1 is also excited to be at Roland Garros and is feeding off the energy of the crowd.

“It is great to play here. It is my first time on Suzanne-Lenglen and I enjoyed playing here,” Alcaraz said.

“There was such great energy from the crowd and I came out with a great level.”
