Former World Number 1 Simona Halep’s hearing for her doping allegations is being delayed further, frustrating her even more.

Just last week, she was hit with a second charge for “irregularities” to her biological passport.

Halep has been suspended since October last year after she tested positive for a banned substance at the US Open. Halep has denied the charges and says that she is, “extremely shocked and disappointed by the ITIA’s attitude”.

She also claims that the ITIA is saying one thing but doing another.

“While the ITIA via their representative Nicole Sapstead was publicly stating three days ago that the ITIA ‘has remained committed to engaging Mrs. Halep in an empathetic, efficient and timely manner’, they were at the same time officially requesting the tribunal to delay my hearing… for the third time,” Halep added.

“The ITIA publicly states one thing while privately doing another, I have repeatedly asked for my hearing and the ITIA has repeatedly sought to delay it.”

“When is it going to stop? I ask the question once again. I am entitled to a quick hearing. Acting this way is contrary to my rights.”

She’s not the only one who thinks the same. Halep’s coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, has also said that the ITIA had played a “double game” from “day one”.

Despite allegations from Halep, investigations into doping issues do usually take months to resolve, especially if the player involved denies them.
