Former World No.

She admitted that winning Wimbledon was a lifelong dream and after she accomplished said goal, she said that it was like the “fire inside died”.

After winning the grass-court Grand Slam, the Australian played in only three more tournaments before returning for the 2022 Australian Open, which she also won.

About a month and a half after winning at Melbourne Park, the Australian shocked the tennis world when she announced that she was retiring from the sport.

“Winning Wimbledon was the single thing I wanted my whole career. But after that feat, in June 2021, the fire died inside,” Barty told News Corp.

In her book, she revealed that she was struggling to find the motivation to keep going.

“I don’t know what I’m playing for anymore.”

“I think I’m done. I have got nothing left, no spark,” Barty wrote.

She also said that her life has been great since she retired. Back in July, she had married her partner Garry Kissick.

She has been doing well after drawing the curtain on her tennis career.

“The last six or seven months of my life have been everything I have ever wanted. I’m loving the way my life is at the moment.”

“I won’t even be estranged from the tennis world… but I just won’t be out there for me,” Barty revealed.
