“Its unbelievable to win two titles in a row for me here in the United States, I didnt expect it,” Samsonova said, after her latest win.
“I like so much to play here because the surface is pretty fast, I love it. It was helping me in tough situations.”

Samsonova also won the Hologic WTA Tour at the start of August. She beat Kaia Kanepi 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Samsonova dropped her opening serve but went on to claim the next five games and get the set lead. She managed to keep her momentum in the second round.
“She’s a great player already,” Sasnovich said of Samsonova. “For me, top 10. I tried to do my best but Liuda was better.”
Samsonova is Russian and Sasnovich is from Belarus. Both compete without a flag because of the rules that were imposed after Russia and Belarus invaded Ukraine.
“We were both without the flag,” Samsonova said. “I think it’s important to spend a minute to say we are both good people and you are amazing people so thank you.”
Both players are now headed to the US Open which starts on Monday.
“I think [the US Open is] going to be a different tournament because the conditions are different there,” Samsonova said. “But of course, I played five matches here, so I think they helped me.”
