Novak Djokovic Inaugurated New Tennis Courts at Bosnian ‘Pyramid Park’

The recent Wimbledon champion arrived in Bosnia on Wednesday in time to inaugurate the tennis courts at the ‘pyramid park’ of which he is a constant visitor.

Novak Djokovic is known for his New Age beliefs and he has always enjoyed visiting the town of Visoko in Bosnia to see the ancient man-man pyramid complex that many believe to have healing powers – this claim, however, has been rejected by mainstream science.

The Serb tennis star first visited the place in 2000 and has since gone back many times as he believes it helps him ‘charge his batteries’. He previously called the place “paradise on earth”.

“This is a special day for Visoko, for Bosnia, for the whole region, for tennis, for sport”, Djokovic said after arriving at the new courts.

“The message of this day is peace, sport, future, and health.”

The ‘Bosnian Pyramids of the Sun’ were founded by Semir Osmanagic and he has always been on hand to welcome Djokovic whenever he visits. It was Osmanagic who came up with the idea to construct a tennis training center in the area.

“We have agreed to build in our park two courts for the training of the top level players, one hard-court and another one with clay surface,” Osmanagic told reporters recently.

He went on to explain that the idea is to offer top-level players like Djokovic a place to train and offer them free accommodations.

“We also want to organize here a Pyramid Cup for players from the region and want notably to motivate youngsters to play tennis and other sports,” he added.

The events surrounding the inauguration will include exhibition matches by Djokovic and Ivan Dodig.

When Djokovic arrived at the site, he took a walk in the pine forest with his host. He told reporters before, “I know there are many doubts and dilemmas about the authenticity” of the place, he said.

But “in order to fully understand what is going on here… you have to come”.
