Ninth-seeded Norrie was visually and emotionally moved as his name was chanted around Court One. He is next set to face top-seeded Novak Djokovic who defeated Jannik Sinner in his own quarterfinals match-up.
When asked how he feels about his win against Goffin, Norrie said, “Honestly? Speechless. I can’t even talk.” Norrie is the British No.1 and he is known for his laid-back demeanor.
Among the 11,000-crowd that watched him play were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
“I think just winning a match like this, I’m in shock. I don’t know what to say now.
“I have flashbacks of all the hard work and all the sacrifices I have had to make and it’s definitely paid off - and it feels pretty good.”
This semi-final makes Norrie the first British man to reach it since Andy Murray did it in 2016. Djokovic whom hes facing in the semis is looking to win his fourth successive Wimbledon title.
Speaking about his upcoming match-up with the current World No.4, he said, “It’s great to get this now but it’s only going to get tougher,” Norrie told the Wimbledon crowd.
“I’m going to take it to Novak and hopefully you guys can get behind me and I’m sure you will.”
The left-handed player is the last home player left in the tournament. He managed to keep his cool despite the heated match with Goffin. After his victory, he walked over to his box where his mother and girlfriend were seated.
