Ashleigh Barty to Open Tennis Academy

Ashleigh Barty to Open Tennis Academy

The 2021 Wimbledon champion and former World No.

Barty shocked the tennis world when she announced her retirement just as it looked like she was just getting into her groove but she hasnt stayed away from the sport long after that.

She did take some time off playing celebrity golf and publishing a series of children’s books. She played at the ICONS Golf Series, representing Team World. She is also set to publish her book series titled Little Ash.

Now, the 26-year-old is partnering with her former coaches and opening a new tennis academy in her home country.

It has been reported that Barty is to take the lead mentoring role at the academy and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Her run at the Australian Open and the heights she achieved have renewed her interest in tennis in Australia.

Deep down, it is something we have always wanted to do together and now we have the time to do it, Barty said in an interview.

We have got this next generation of girls and boys in Aussie tennis who hopefully want to go along for the ride with us and learn and develop together.

Barty expressed interest in helping girls between the ages of 13 and 18 and helping them transition from the Juniors to the Pros.

“I have always wanted to have the time to contribute in other ways. I’m ready to really give back, that’s what lights me up inside,” she said during her retirement press conference.
