Kei Nishikori Is Out of the Australian Open Because of Hip Injury

Kei Nishikori has withdrawn from participating in the Australian Open as he continues to recover from a hip injury.

The 32-year-old, former World No.4, has been struggling with injuries in the past few years.

In a Twitter statement, he said, Since the end of last year I have been struggling with my hip. It is not 100% recovered yet and I will have to pull out of the Aussie swing.

This is very disappointing as the Australian Open feels like my home Grand Slam And cant wait to be back next year. This years Australian Open begins on January 17.

Nishikori is currently ranked World No.47. He turned pro in 2007. He has 12 Career titles and in 2014, he made it to the finals of the US Open. He also won the bronze medal for Japan at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
