She also said that she has been struggling with her mental health that she felt like not playing matches in the meantime.

Andreescu said that she needs to reset and recover, as things were taking a toll on her physically and mentally. She mentioned on her post that she’s feeling like she was carrying the world on her shoulders, so she needs to detach herself from the court.

Andreescu was a former World Number 4, and she is well-remembered for being Canada’s first Grand Slam champion. She also defeated tennis legend Serena Williams in New York last 2019. However, things might have gone too far for her when she suffered a knee injury in Shenzhen Finals in the same year.

She also withdrew from joining the recent Tokyo Olympics, as she needs to put down her decisions due to the ongoing pandemic. She also competed in October in the Indian Wells but was defeated by Anett Kontaveit in the third round. She also mentioned that she would not be returning to the Indian Wels.

Many of Andreescu’s fans sympathize with her condition, but still, wish that her decisions to withdraw from the Australia Open and possibly some of the WTA tournaments are for the best. Andreescu assured her fans that after she had reset and recovered, she would come back stronger than ever.
