The former World Number 1 in WTA Rankings Caroline Wozniacki had officially retired last year, however, she promised her fans to play one last match.As

As she posted in her Twitter account, she had finally chosen her “final match” in Copenhagen against Angelique Kerber, her longtime friend. Wozniacki’s final match will be held on February 9, 2022.

She candidly recalled her last match with Kerber and said that she lost to Kerber, that’s why she decided to get her revenge on Kerber on her last match. Wozniacki had announced her official retirement at the 2020 Australian Open. Since she became a mother to her daughter Olivia, she needed more time to focus on her family. At the same time, the global pandemic had also affected her attendance in WTA tournaments.

She excitedly said that she can’t wait for that day to happen because it will be an amazing night, unbelievable tennis, and a great party. She is also hoping to see her fans at the event.

On the other hand, Wozniacki’s opponent, Angelique Kerber had recently lost to Jill Teichmann in the final round of the Ostrava Open on Tuesday in 6-2, 6-3. The former World Number 1 Kerber had been struggling with her serve and has been breaking three times. Teichmann took advantage of Kerber’s struggle and she managed to defeat Kerber in the second round.

Meanwhile, as Teichmann advances to the next round, she will be playing against Alison Riske or Fiona Ferro.
