Salisbury and Krawczyk defeated Mexican Giuliana Olmos and El Salvadorian Marcelo Arevalo at Flushing Meadows with scores 7-5, 6-2. While another Briton is taking more of the limelight today Emma Raducanu–this recent win means Salisbury has four Grand Slam titles now.
Speaking about their victory, Salisbury said the past couple of weeks had been incredible and so much fun. He could not have ever dreamt of coming away with two titles.
Salisbury and Krawczyk were second seeds. Meanwhile, this was Arevalos first time playing in mixed doubles at a Grand Slam. It was his first time, but he and Olmos made a shocking upset by defeating the top seeds.
The final of the mixed doubles had a tight first set. Salisbury faced five break points within two service games. However, Arevalo and Olmos could not convert these chances to their advantage, eventually broken and lost the first set at 7-5.
Salisbury and Krawczyk broke and wrapped up the game at the start of the second set, taking their second title this year. With his victory at the mens doubles, Salisbury will leave the tournament bagging 300,000 ($410,000) in prize money.
