Elise Mertens and Hsieh Su-wei won the womens doubles title at Wimbledon against Russians Elena Vesnina and Veronika Kudermetova.

Su-wei and Mertens won the match by surviving two points in the second set, winning 3-6, 7-5, 9-7. Pavic and Mektic won 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 7-5 against Horacio Zeballos and Marcel Granollers in the final.

This victory is the first time for the top seeds Pavic and Mektic to win as a team in any Grand Slam. But this triumph at the All England Club is also Pavic and Mektics eighth title as a pair in 2021.

This win at Wimbledon is the third major victory for Pavic. His first was in the 2018 Australian Open when he partnered with Oliver Marach. The second time was in the 2020 US Open with Bruno Soares.

As for Belgian Mertens, this is her second Grand Slam title of 2021 after her doubles victory at the Australian Open. Meanwhile, this is the third Wimbledon doubles title, and the fourth Grand Slam title Hsieh has claimed.

Their opponent, 24-year-old Kudermetova and 34-year-old Vesnina, were strong contenders. However, they failed to take the victory at 5-4 in the second set, at which point Su-wei and Mertens made successive breaks.

The pair prevailed in the match with 9-7 scores. This victory ensures that Mertens will come back to number ranking in the women’s doubles on Monday.
