October 30, 2008 – Tennis enthusiasts have got their hands full what with the up and coming preparation for the Hopman Cup 2009. Eight nations pick only the best of their tennis players to represent the Hopman Cup. Serena Williams and James Blake will be representing the United States, Lleyton Hewitt and Casey Dellacqua will be representing Australia, Dominika Cibulkova and Dominik Hrbatv will be representing Slovakia, Sabine Lisicki and Nicolas Kiefer for Germany and Alize Cornet and Gilles Simon for France. >
Serena Williams and James Blake are the top seeds for the coming Hopman Cup. Williams just bagged the US Open title this year and together with two-time Hopman Cup Champion, James Blake, the US will be giving the seven other teams tough competition. The US team is followed closely by the famed Russian brother and sister duo, Marat Safin and Dinara Safina. The two teams are said to meet each other in the Final. The US team has been the most successful nation to compete in the Hopman Cup. They have been victorious for five times already and with Williams and Blake representing, a sixth victory might be close to happening.
The Hopman Cup, an official team competition of the ITF, is celebrated at the start of each year at the Burswood Dome, Australia. The 2009 Hopman Cup will take place on January 3-9, 2009.
