In soccer, the referee plays the same roles that he plays in any other game. Referees call all the shots when it comes to the technical aspect of soccer. When fouls are given or there needs to be an extra pair of eyes on the field, it is the referee who serves this purpose.
Referees usually wear the traditional black and white garb that traditional referees wear. A referee is under a lot of pressure from both sides and it is important for any referee to be as neutral as possible under any and all circumstances and to take the time to provide as unbiased an opinion as possible.
It is a crime to hurt a referee during a game or to try to give them money to sway their side. All referees must remain as neutral as possible at all times in order to best serve those in the soccer game.
