Albacete Balompie is a Spanish football club based in Albacete in Castile-La Mancha. They currently feature in the Segunda Division.
Albacete Balompie were established in 1940 as Albacete Futbol Asociacion and reached the second tier of Spanish football for the first time in the 1985-1986 season.
Albacete gained promotion to La Liga in 1989 for the first time in history and finished seventh in their debut season in the Spanish top flight. But they were relegated in 1995-1996 and soon started to struggle with monetary problems.
Albacete Balompie play their home matches at Carlos Belmonte that can accommodate 17,300 spectators. They bear the nickname “Queso Mecanico” (A clockwork cheese).
