Luton Town Football Club is an English football team that plays in the English Championship.
History
The Hatters have never played in the Premier League but came close when they made the 2021-22 playoffs under Nathan Jones, and reached that same stage in 2022-23.
Luton were relegated from England’s First Division in 1991-92, depriving them of a spot in the maiden Premier League season. Luton then experienced a dramatic fall down the divisions, dropping to the third tier four years ago.
After a series of close but ultimately unsuccessful bids for promotion back to the Football League, Luton came up in 2013-14. They have gradually gone back up the divisions.
In the 2022-23 season, Luton were promoted to the Premier League for the first time, winning the playoff final on penalties over Coventry City. Luton were relegated after one season in the top flight.
The team play their home games at the Kenilworth Road stadium, which has a capacity of 10,260.
