Coventry City Football Club is an English football based in the city of Coventry. They currently feature in the English Football League Championship.

History

Coventry City was established on August 13, 1883 as Singers and altered their name to Coventry City in 1898. In 1919 Coventry were admitted to the Football League and they have stayed there since.

In 2007 the club almost went into administration but then Ray Ranson tookover the club and rescued the club from financial ruins.

Coventry City play their home matches at the Ricoh Arena which can host a crowd of 32,609. The club is nicknamed as the Sky Blues.

In 1987 Coventry City won the FA Cup by defeating Tottenham Hotspur in the final. Coventry City were one of the founding members of the English Premier League in 1992 but were relegated in 2001 after spending the previous 334 years in the English top flight.
