UD Almeria, officially known as Unión Deportiva Almería, S.A.D., is a Spanish professional football club based in Almeria. They play in La Liga and they are owned by Turki Al-Sheikh.

The club was founded on July 26, 1989, and was initially called the Almería Club de Fútbol. They were renamed Unión Deportiva Almería in 2001 after the merger of Polideportivo Almería and Almería CF.

They play their home matches at Estadio del Mediterraneo (known now as Power Horse Stadium for sponsorship reasons) which has a capacity of just 15,294.

History

The 2007-2008 season was the first season that Almeria featured in La Liga, led by Coach Unai Emery and President Alfonso Garcia Gabarron.

Almeria claimed their best-ever La Liga finish in 2007-08, claiming a top-half finish in eighth, but were relegated in 2010-11.

The club has floated between the top two divisions over the past decade, promoted again in 2014 and relegated again in 2015, before being promoted again in 2021-22 as Segunda Division champions under manager Rubi, with Umar Sadiq starring in the attack.
