Koninklijke Sint-Truidense Voetbalvereniging or K. Sint-Truidense V.V. is a professional Belgian football club which is situated in Sint-Truiden Limburg. Also known as STW or Sint-Truiden, this club plays in the Belgian Pro League, with their best ranking being in the second place in 1965-66. Moreover, twice this club reached the Belgian Cup finals.
Nicknamed as De Kanaries (The Canaries), this club got founded on 23rd February 1924. The home matches are played at Stayen, Sint-Truiden ground which has a seating capacity of 11,250. The Chairman of this team is Benoit Morrenne with Franky Van der Elst being the manager.

This club was created post the merger of F.C.Union and F.C.Goldstar in 1924. The first and the foremost game played by this team were against the team of Cercle Tongeren. By late 1930s, the leading player of the team was Leopold Appeltans, who became the first capped player in 1948 for Belgium, whilst playing at the club.
By late 1940s, the team was qualified for the second division and five years later, they finished second of the second division, playing the next season in the first division. In 1947, the name of the team changed to Sint-Truidense Voetbalvereniging, making their final addition to it in 1952. Raymond Goethals was then the manager of the team, who arrived at Sint-Truiden in 1959. Under his management, this team finished second of the top division in 1966.
In 2001, Jacky Mathijssen, a former Sint-Truidense goalkeeper, became the manager of this club, remaining at the helm for almost three seasons, post which he had to leave for Charleroi. Marc Wilmots replaced him, though he got fired. Under the trio coaching of Eddy Raymaekers, Peter Voets and Guy Mangelschots, this team finished the season. At the end of the 2004-05 season, the board of directors hired Herman Vermeulen, a Oostende manager, though he also got fired in 2006 as the club reached at the 17th position in the ranking. In 2008, FCL Rapide Wezermaal women’s team joined STW.
Major Achievements
At the Belgian Second Division, the team won thrice, in 1986-87, in 1993-94 and in 2008-09. They were the runner up in 1956-57 of this division. This team has been the runner up team of the Belgian First Division in 1965-66. Moreover, in 1997-98, the team won the Belgian League Cup once. Other than that, they were the runner up team of the Belgian Cup in 1970-71 and in 2002-03.
