Sligo Rovers FC

Sligo Rovers FC is a Republic of Ireland football club based in Sligo. They currently feature in the League of Ireland.

Sligo Rovers were established on September 17,1928 after a merger between Sligo Town and Sligo Blues. Their first match was against Ballyshannon on September 23,1928 and they won that game 9-1. They won the League of Ireland championship in 1937 for the first time in their history and then won the league again in 1977. In 1983 Sligo won the FAI Cup.

Sligo Rovers played in the Irish top flight in 2008 and finished fourth in the league, earning a place in the UEFA Europa League for the 2009-2010.
