He was born on 7th August 1983 in Caracas, Venezuela. He also plays for the Russian Premier League‘s FC Zenit Saint Petersburg. He has played for clubs like Marítimo from 2001-06, Sporting CP from 2002-04, Maritimo on loan from 2003-04 and Dynamo Moscow from 2005-08. He plays as an attacking midfielder.

Danny was signed by FC Zenit St. Petersburg on 24th August 2008 for €30 million, becoming Russian League’s most expensive player. His debut for the club came in the 2008 UEFA Super Cup in a match against Manchester United. He scored the winning goal and was named man of the match. Zenit ended up at the fifth place.

Danny made his international debut for Portugal on 20th August 2008 in a friendly game against the Faroe Islands. The match was won by Portugal by 5–0. His first international goal came in a match against Brazil on 19th November 2008. However, Portugal lost the match by 6–2. He was included in the 23-men squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
