Georgios Samarasimage:Georgios Samaras |Georgios Samaras is an international Greek football player who also plays for Celtic in the Scottish Premier League. Standing six feet four inches tall, Samaras plays as a striker.

Samaras started his professional career with Heerenveen. He played for the club from 2003-2006, making eighty seven appearances and scoring twenty five goals. He moved to Manchester City in 2006 and played for them for a couple of years making thirty nine appearances and scoring eight goals. He was also sent on loan to Celtic in 2008 where he made sixteen appearances for them.

He was signed permanently by Celtic on 15th July 2008. On 23 August, he scored his initial two goals of the season in a game against Falkirk. This was followed by impressive performances against Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Livingston. Hence he was chosen as SPL Player of the Month. He scored ten goals before Christmas but ended up with only 17 goals in the season because of injury and also loss of form. So far, he has made sixty one appearances for the club and netted twenty six goals.

Samaras international debut for Greece came in a friendly against Belarus on 28 February 2006. The only goal of the match was scored by him. His performances in the World Cup qualifiers helped Greece in getting to the 2010 World Cup.
