Jasmin Handanovičimage:Jasmin Handanovič |Jasmin Handanovič is a Slovenian football goalkeeper of Bosnian descent. At present, he plays for Empoli. At the NK Olimpija, he received the Slovenian Cup in 1999-2000 season. Whilst with the NK Koper, he received Slovenian Cup in 2005-06 and in 2006-07.
Born in Ljubljana in SFR Yugoslavia, Jasmin made his debut in 1993 whilst playing for Svoboda Ljubljana for a season. From 1996 to 2001, he was a part of Olimpija Ljubljana with 11 caps. With Triglav Kranj, he played for only one season, 2001-02 and made 8 caps. It was in 2002-03, when Jasmin played for Zagorje, making 30 appearances. In 2003-04, he played for Svoboda Ljubljana, making 26 appearances.
With Olimpija Ljubljana team, he only made one appearance in 2004-05, and with Koper, he played in 2005-07, with 65 appearances. From 2007 onwards till 2010, he made 74 appearances for Mantova team. Further, from 2010 onwards, he is playing for the Empoli team. Whilst with national teams like Slovenia 21, he played since 1999 and made only one appearance. With Slovenia team since 2007, he made 3 appearances.
At the age 30, he made his international debut, for Slovenia in a 1-0 friendly defeat to Sweden. Though most of his time was spent on the bench, this six feet five inch player is a powerful penalty box presence and can be known as a good player when required.
