Edson Buddle is a professional football player from the United States who was born on May 21, 1981 in New Rochelle, New York. Buddle is best known as the current Forward player of the Los Angeles Galaxy, a club in Major League Soccer. Buddle's name comes from the well known Brazilian player, Pele (otherwise known as Edson Arantes do Nascimento).
When he was in college, he played one year of college football while studying at State Fair Community College, and subsequently led them to the NJCAA Division I National Championship in 1999. A year after that, he started his professional career when he was signed by the Long Island Rough Riders, a club in the A-League. He spent a year together with the club and made a total of 26 appearances and 11 goals. A year after that, he was signed by Columbus Crew, where he stayed from 2001 to 2005. During that time, he made the most appearances in his career with the club, as well as scoring the most goals with the club.
Buddle also played in other clubs such as the New York Red Bulls, Toronto FC, and his recent Los Angeles Galaxy. He was signed by the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007, and so far, he has made more than 70 appearances and approximately 35 goals.
In addition to his club career, Buddle is also a member of the United States national team since 2003. However, he has not been participating a lot as a member of the team, managing only to make 5 caps and 2 goals for the team.
