Josmer Volmy “Jozy” Altidore is a professional football player from the United States. Altidore was born on November 6, 1989 in Livingston, New Jersey, United States, and is currently a striker for Villareal C.F. of La Liga. Incidentally, Altidore is also a part of the United States national team that represented the United States to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
While growing up, Altidore was already a club football player for Boca Juniors Soccer Club as well as GBYSA. As a high school student, Altidore went to Boca Prep before he transferred to the IMGO Soccer Academy which hosts the U.S. Under-17 residency program.
During the 2006 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, Altidore was drafted by MetroStars (now known as the New York Red Bulls). However, he was not able to spend much of the 2006 season playing for the team as he was busy finishing his high school diploma in Florida.

Altidore made his debut as a professional on August 23, 2006 during a match against D.C. United as a substitute. He was able to make his first professional goal at a tender age of 16, defeating Columbus Crew on September 16, 2006.
Since his start with the New York Red Bulls, Altidore was albe to join other clubs such as Villarreal, Xerez, and Hull City. He has also been active as an international player by being a part of the United States national team since 2007. Since then, he has a record of 29 caps and 9 goals for the country.
