Yuji Nakazawa is a professional football player from Japan, who is currently a Defender for the J. League side of Yokohama F. Marinos. He holds the position of centre back as well as the team captain of both the Japan National football team as well as the Yokohama F. Marinos. Born on February 25, 1978 in Yoshikawa, Saitama, Japan, Nakazawa is also called “Bomber” mainly due to his distinct hairstyle.
Nakazawa’s interest in football sparked when he started playing the game for his school’s teams. As early as Junior High, Nakazawa was already a player for his schools, such as Misato Technology High School and Yoshikawa Higashi Junior High School. Unfortunately, despite displaying impressive performance in playing football, he was not able to attract any scouts. This is why he left his homeland and left for Brazil where he improved his football skills while training under America Mineiro.
By the time Nakazawa came back from Brazil, he was already able to score a full professional contract the following year after a brief stint as a trainee. During his first appearance in J. League, he was able to score his very first league goal. Since then, he was already a part of various teams such America, Tokyo Verdy, and his current Yokohama F. Marinos.
Nakazawa is one of 3 players from the Japan national team to have reached 100 caps or more, and he has a record of 17 goals made as an international player. His total number of goals made as a club player is 24.
