Other clubs he has been a part of include Lorient and Pau. He was born on 5th December 1985 in Martigues, France. Standing six feet one and a half inches tall, he is a well-built striker with supreme capabilities.

Before getting selected by the national team, Gignac had gone through several ups and downs in his football career which commenced with Martigues, his home-town club. He made fifty one appearances for Lorient from 2004 to 2007 scoring eleven goals. In the 2005-06 season, Gignac made eighteen appearance for Pau scoring eight goals. In the 2006-07 season, he entered Ligue 1 with Lorient. In the same season, an offer given by Toulouse appeared tempting to Gignac. Once he reached there, Gignac found it hard to oust the Swedish player Johan Elmander from that team. After Elmander’s exit from the team, Gignac excelled with flying colors.

André-Pierre Gignac made his international debut on 1st April 2009 in a match against Lithuania in the World Cup Qualifiers. He was a part of the 23-men squad selected for the FIFA World Cup 2010 and made his World Cup debut against Uruguay on 11th June 2010. In fifteen appearances made for the national team so far, he Gignac has scored four goals.
