Diego Pablo Simeone was born on April 28, 1970 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is an Argentine football manager and former footballer. Diego was a renowned Argentine defensive midfielder and he was the most capped player ever for his country. His football club career started in 1987, he played first for team Velez Sarsfield for three years. In his succeeding years in football from 1990 to 2006, he played for teams Pisa, Sevilla FC, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Lazio and Racing Club.

Simeone was nicknamed El Cholo after his father, who was an active footballer during 1960s. He gained 106 caps, the first coming was in 1988. He won the 1991 and 1993 editions of the Copa America with Argentina. Simeone played in the 1994, 1998, and 2002 World Cups. In 1996 Summer Olympics in Georgia, he was part of the football team that bagged silver medal. In 1998 Cup, he was a part of the infamous clash with English football star David Beckham. He has scored 11 goals for his country and he was considered a great leader on the playing field.

In 2006, he ended his playing career for Racing Club, but then he became manager for the same team. After his managerial career in the said team, he became a coach of various football teams such as Estudiantes de La Plata, River Plate and San Lorenzo.
