Born to parents of Scottish and German decent, George Patrick Forsyth Sommer is a professional Peruvian footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. Forsyth began his playing career at FC Lannesdorf 07, in 1997, in Germany. He played there, in the youth team, for two seasons before moving to Peru to play with Universitario de Deportes. A season later, he was with Alianza Lima, playing his last season before moving into professional football.

Forsyth broke into the first team squad at Alianza Lima in 2002. A promising youngster, he didn’t play for the first team but his reserve team performances caught the eye of German league giants Borussia Dortmund II, the reserve side of the Bundes Liga team. After just 6 games for the German team, between 2002 and 2003, Forsyth moved back to Peru to play with Atletico Universidad

Forsyth kept playing for his new team however just 12 appearances later, he was relegated to the bench. He moved back to Alianza Lima in 2004 when the team was struggling to find a fit keeper for their side. He played in the starting eleven, gathering 51 caps and playing in all competitions for two seasons. In his third season with Alianza, Forsyth was relegated to the bench after a few poor performances and good showings by his former deputies.

He failed to make it back into the team and was forced to go out to Sport Boys on loan, in 2005, amidst his time at Alianza. A first choice keeper at the junior levels for his club & international team, Forsyth was suddenly finding himself struggling to keep regular playing spot. At the end of his time with Alianza, Forsyth moved to Atalanta B.C. in Italy, playing for the team in the top flight of Serie A football.

Without playing a single game, Forsyth returned to Peru and signed up with Alianza Lima again, this time as the first choice keeper for the team.

Despite having European roots, Forsyth made his international debut for Peru, at the Under 17, 20 and 23 levels. He has played over 35 games at these junior levels, while making his senior team debut in 2007. Forsyth has played 5 times for the Peruvian national team.
