Martein Reim is a retired footballer from Estonia who played as defensive midfielder and central midfielder. At present, he manages the Estonian football club, FC Flora.

Reim was born in Tartu, Estonia on May 14, 1971. He started to show interest in football at the early age of 6. In 1977, he began his youth career in Lõvid Tallinn. Reim laundched his professional career when he joined VAZ/Žiguli Tallinn in 1987. From then on, he continued to play in Latvian football, playing for different clubs until he declared his retirement on December 5, 2008.

This Estonian football player used to be the most capped European until his record of 157 caps was overtaken by Latvia’s Vitalijs Astafjevs on November 14, 2009. He still is though the most capped player in Estonia and the most capped player in the world. He has been playing for the Estonian national team since 1992. His first official cap came on June 3 of that year when Estonia played in a friendly match against Slovenia. He has netted 16 times from 1992 until he played his last and 157th game for his homeland on June 6, 2009 versus Equatorial Guinea on Estonia’s 100th football anniversary.

Despite being one of the most capped players in the world, Reim has never played in a World Cup. He is then considered as the most experienced football player, in terms of international exposure, who has never appeared in the said cup.
