Adnan Al-Talyani
Adnan Khamees Al-Talyani is a football player who hails from Sarjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE). He was born on October 30, 1964, and he started playing football in the 1970s along the streets of Sharjah.
It was in 1980 that Talyani joined the Al Shaab Club, and stayed with the club throughout his entire club career there, until 1999. However, this does not go to say that Talyani did not get recognized by other clubs. In fact, he received a number of rather lucrative offers from other clubs. Unfortunately the strict restrictions that were present at the time had prohibited Talyani from transferring to the offering clubs.
When the former trainer of the Iran national team, Heshmat Mohajerani, was chosen as the trainer of the United Arab Emirates national team, Talyani was picked to be part of the UAE national team. Although he did play, Tlayani retired from playing international football in 1997. At the time of his retirement, he became the all-time leader in international appearances with his 164 caps and 53 goals.
It was only in January of 2003 that Talyani officially retired from playing football, and during that time, a testimonial match was played in his honor between the Italian champions, Juventus, and a group of All-Star team of players who came from various countries. Since his retirement, he has been named as the United Arab of Emirates’ Player of the Century.
Although it has been years since Talyani has retired from international football, as of July 2009, Talyani is still seated fifth in the list of football players with 100 or more caps
