Vicente Jose Matias Vuoso is a professional football player who was born in Argentina but acquired Mexican citizenship. The striker began his professional career with Independiente in the Argentine Primera Division in 2000-01. Along with Diego Forlan, Vuoso scored 7 times for the team in 29 games before repeating the performance in 2001-02 in 35 games.

In 2002, Vuoso left Argentina to join Manchester City in the English Premier League. Without playing a single game, Vuoso was sent out on loan to Santos Laguna in Mexico. Unfortunately for Vuoso, he never got much playing time as both teams had a well established strike partnership up front that kept him out of the team. Vuoso mostly played as a substitute when he came on for either Rodrigo Ruiz or Jared Borgetti. He would get the off-and-on starting place as well but that would mostly depend on injury to one of the two frontline players.

During one such absence of the legendary Jared Borgetti, Vuoso started two games and scored in each, putting forward a strong case for his inclusion as a permanent member of the starting eleven. Borgetti soon left the club after the 2004 Clausura and that meant that Vuoso was quickly promoted to one of the top two strikers’ spot. 11 goals in 17 games during the 2004 Apertura meant that Vuoso was clearly on the right track, a fact further solidified by another 16 goals in 19 games during the next season. Each time, Vuoso was the league’s highest goal scorer and was presented with an award to mark this occasion.

In over 100 games, Vuoso had scored 57 goals at an extraordinary rate of one every two games, before moving to Club America in 2006. At the end of the 2007 Clausura, a unhappy Vuoso returned to Santos Laguna once again but due to a terrible run of form, remained mostly on the bench.

Vuoso acquired Mexican citizenship and declared his availability for the Mexican national team. Vuoso made his International debut for Mexico when he replaced Omar Arellano in the team, under Sven Goran Eriksson.

In 2008, Vuoso played a vital role in helping Santos Laguna win the 2008 Clausura title.
