Matteo Brighi is an Italian footballer who is on the books of Italian giants AS Roma. He is a defensive midfielder.
Brighi started his professional career at little known Italian club Rimini in 1998 and was signed by European powerhouse Juventus in 2000. He was a Juventus player until the summer of 2004 but he played for two seasons for Parma from 2002 after Juve sold 50% of his rights to the club.
At the end of the 2003-2004 season of course, Juve bought back the rights to the player for a reported 11.5 million euros and sold them to AS Roma immediately as part of a transfer deal that saw Emerson move from Roma to Juventus.
In spite of being a Roma player officially, Brighi has played for them only once. He was loan to Chievo Verona since the start of the 2004-2005 season until the summer of 2007 when his defensive qualities earned him a recall to Roma.
Brighi was capped only once by Italy and that was in 2002 when he played in a friendly international against Slovenia.
