Steve Cherundolo

Steven Emil Cherundolo, also known as Steve Cherundolo, is a professional football player from America who plays as a defender. As a player at Mt. Carmel High School in Rancho Penasquitos, Steve was part of the team that won the California State Championship title six times. Following high school, Steve went on to play at the University of Portland for two seasons from 1997 to 1998.

While playing for the University of Portland Pirates, Steve won the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year award. Steve made his way to Germany and signed up with Hannover 96, in the German second division. Since 1999, Steve has been a part of the Hannover 96 team and has ended up playing over 320 league games. He has been instrumental in helping the team rise to the top-flight, and has become the captain of the Hannover 96 first team.

At the international level, Steve has represented the United States of America at the Under-20 level before going on to be a regular part of the senior team. He has over 65 caps to his name, with two goals as well. Steve led the United States to the 2005 Gold Cup title.

In 2006, he was named for the FIFA World Cup in Germany to the US roster. But, he missed the 2008 FIFA Confederations Cup due to an injury, returning back to the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2009. Steve was known as one of the seven defenders who was named to the USA Squad in South Africa for the World Cup in 2010.

Whilst with the Hannover 96 team, he won the 2. Bundesliga title once in 2001-02. In an international match, he won the CONCACAF Gold Cup once in 2005.
