Raffael Caetano de Araujo, commonly known as Raffael, is a Brazilian football player who currently features for the German Bundesliga club, Hertha Berlin. He is a versatile footballer who can play either as a winger or as an attacking midfielder.
Raffael commenced his professional club football career at FC Chiasso in 2003 and played for the team for two seasons. He was 20 when he was signed by FC Zurich in 2005 and played for them for two seasons. In both the seasons, he led the competition in assists and added 40 goals as well. Raffael won the Swiss Super League with Zurich in two successive seasons.
Raffael was signed by Hertha Berlin in mid January 2008. He was reunited with Lucein Favre and Steve von Bergen, both former Zurich teammates. On 2nd February, he played his first game in the Bundesliga in a 0-3 home defeat played against Eintracht Frankfurt. The following day, at VfB Stuttgart, he scored his first goal, as Hertha won the match by 3-1.
